There was an hour left for my shift but I’d already completed all of my tasks for the day. Someone said to not ask for extra work to do, as we were “too high level” for that. So we sat around and chatted instead. They asked me what I thought about my job. I said it was chill and that I got to make things. They started talking about an old coworker who’d apparently come back to the company. I recalled how I’d only sometimes see them online and figured that they must be on some kind of part-time position.

I was standing in line and saw an old friend walking towards me from the opposite direction. “Are you tired?” I asked. He offered me a stick of gum as he passed by and presumably went to the back of the line. A few moments later I realized he had stuck a wad of gum inside of my shirt collar. I tried to discreetly pick at and throw it away while the line continued moving. We approached a doorway leading outside and there was an industrial sink nearby. I took the opportunity to wash my hands without leaving the line.

I woke up in my room in Taipei, feeling like I had overslept something important. Was it a plane flight? I wasn’t sure. My lamp wouldn’t turn on. I got out my phone to start recording my dream. I think there was something about a beer brand wanting to sponsor me. It didn’t take long before my words were being replaced with error boxes you’d see for missing images. My screen gradually got darker until it was too hard to type. My lamp was still broken. I pulled open my curtains for some light. It was raining outside.
