I was playing a 4-player co-op handheld game with some friends. They got a power up that resembled the Kirby warp star which allowed them to crash around the stage. Someone accidentally changed the game mode which only had a 2 player limit and kicked us back to the main menu. It happened so suddenly that I was afraid of the save data being lost.

I was looking for my friend around campus until I spotted him sitting near the steps in one of the central courtyards. We hung out and chatted around the skylights before heading in.
