It was Friday and the only thing I had left to do was to take some weekly measurements in the lab. I was tasked with recording the direction of the flow of water in one of our model pools. The model simulated the interaction between ocean currents and the coastlines of islands.

We were on a two-week hybrid schedule and I stopped for a moment to figure out how many days I’d come into the office for. I wrapped up my work and headed back to the office when a colleague asked if I knew that one of the kids who visited our workplace yesterday was actually only 7 years old and had 3 younger siblings. I had to think for a long time before realizing that he was talking about someone who was here for a tour and I thought was only about 14 at youngest.
