My parents and I entered a large for storey complex which was being used as the venue for a nightlong survival game. The brutalist building of pure concrete had a labyrinth of rooms inside. Traversing the floors felt like walking through a dimly lit parking lot. As our only objective was to survive the night, our best bet was to simply hide in one of the hundreds of rooms and hope that no one found us before the sun came up. When we got to the fourth floor, we were greeted with a sign that there were pokemon here available to catch.

On the second day I told my parents that I was going to try for another night. I wanted to stay in the area and entering the game was the more economical choice as the entry fee was cheaper than any other proper accommodation nearby. After classes were finished for the day, someone asked me if I had a ride home. I gave a kind of non-answer as I wasn’t planning on heading home that night.

I went over to the building with a suitcase in tow and debated whether I wanted to check it in to the front desk. I reasoned that the suitcase would probably be too noisy in the wide hallways. I started transferring some clothes and essentials to my backpack as I mulled over my decision in the lobby. I could see that from this entrance that there was the choice of either entering from the first floor or the fourth. I flipped through the day planner in my bag and was reminded that I needed to get a new one soon - this one was almost full. I thought about the concert that I was going to attend in a few days.

I noticed now that half of the building was under renovation.
