I was sitting on the grass next to the tetherball courts of my elementary school campus. There were so many new and unfamiliar buildings around the playground. We were promised to get a tour of the place tomorrow. Class was starting soon but my backpack was still over by the basketball courts. The teacher asked if anyone had any questions about finding work before the next lesson was going to begin. A friend raised his hand and asked what to do if the interviewer asked if you had a car. The teacher suggested to have a joke prepared.

The subject of today’s class was Roland Barthes and his views on Marxism. I quickly got up to get my notebook and water bottle from my bag across the field. He went on about a story about a young boy named Peter who was on the verge of death - and then died. Apparently this was ‘irrefutable proof’ of the world’s obsession with Marxism.
