I hadn’t packed up in advance so I was still getting my things together on the morning of our departure. I tried to stuff a door along with the coats that were still hanging on the back into my bag without much success. The day was cloudy yet very bright as the light shone through the windows. The house kind of resembled my uncle’s place from childhood.
By the time I got out the door, we had already missed our bus ride. We had no choice but to walk through a literal war zone. The road was full of holes and the sides were lined with explosives. Fortunately for us, the traps were marked by bright colored lines circling the mines. Apparently this was because we were a “neutral” party to this war and only passing through.
