I was on my way home from a trip to visit my brother. I barely got a chance to see my sister-in-law because she was working the whole time. I got off the plane but had trouble finding where I needed to go for transfers. I wandered around in circles until I finally found the direction of my new departure gate. There was a long line for another security screening. I saw the sign on the glass door to take off your shoes when I realized that that I was walking around in my socks. I had taken my shoes off on the plane but forgot to put them on before getting off. In a panic I asked an old lady at the end of the line who I should ask.

I looked in every direction until I saw someone in a flight attendant uniform. I quickly ran up to her and asked if she would know what happened to my shoes. She led me to a lost and found nearby where two people were sorting through things that were left behind on the last flight. I couldn’t remember what shoes I wore but multiple pairs of shoes seemed familiar. However after wearing them, they didn’t seem to be the right size.

I was then told that these shoes weren’t from the plane that just landed but the one before that. Apparently the newest found items are kept “safeguarded” for a short period of time first. I decided to wait - my next flight got delayed anyways. I saw a friend helping out as a temp worker around at a conveyor belt because his flight was delayed too. I told him about my lost shoes.

A little bit later, a new box of shoes rolled into the office. I saw a pair of shoes that I knew were mine for sure because it also had the arch support insoles that I wore. I kept thanking the people that worked at the lost and found for my shoes.
