I was talking about video games with some friends over Discord when I opened someone’s Snapchat story. It was a bunch of drone footage of scenes over the forests on the west coast of the United States. The story went on for a lot longer than I expected and I just realized that it had cut off my Discord call so I closed the app.
I asked my friends if they had also noticed that a lot of people were playing the horror game “On Blood” from hospitals. However, I wasn’t able to pull up any corroborating data when they asked for it. I swore that I had seen Steam statistics for it somewhere and thought it was an interesting pattern to bring up.
I got up to close the door to my room because the TV from the living room was getting too loud.

I was playing League of Legends as Swain, transforming back and forth between his human and raven forms and clicking for his “poke” voice lines. People were slowly moving out of the room and by the time I got up, the doorway was already partially blocked by a desk. I threw a model bird past the barrier as someone sitting on the other side looked at me confused.
I sheepishly stepped over the desk into the red lit room. I helped myself to a chair and sat behind the rest of my classmates. We were watching documentary about the early days of Facebook and how they tried and failed to enter the movie industry by producing a spin-off Star Wars film.
