My brother and I were taking turns playing a videogame and we were stuck on a mission where you had to evade the police in a single-person copter. After failing again, he handed me the controller for the last time and said I could try as many times as I wanted as he needed to tend to his daughter.

The mission starts out by jumping out of a plane over the harbor. The first obstacle was trying not to crash into the boats at extremely high speeds. Instructions came in over an ear piece telling us to seek out a high place to jump off from. Despite wearing a personal flying device, you can’t gain much altitude without a head start.

After a safe landing in the grass, I started seeking out high buildings to jump from. I eventually wandered into a residential area that resembled Discovery Bay from my childhood. I walked along a road between some high-rises and a mountain when I realized I was walking in a particularly expensive area.

The road suddenly came to a dead end at the gates to one of the buildings. I looked behind me to see two security guards walking towards me in the distance. Unsure what to do, I patiently waited until they caught up. I asked one of them where the tallest publicly accessible building was around here.

“What does that mean?” the guard asked. It looked like they were about ready to apprehend me. “I guess you already know who I am”, I resigned. I offered to explain my situation but the other guard simply said that “Nothing [I’ve] dropped has survived.”
