A storm had been raging all night. As the sun rose, I peeked out of the window to see that our house was now at the edge of a cliff over the sea. Not long afterwards, the soil beneath the house began to move. The erosion quickly accelerated and the house went sliding down. I told everyone in the house to hold onto something as I ran into the bathroom and considered seeking shelter in the bathtub.

Before I got in however, the sliding had stopped so I walked out to check the situation. We had slid down to the sea and the tide was quickly rising. We sat in shock for a few seconds until a large wave was spotted in the distance. I grabbed my backpack and started running away from the shore.

Our roadtrip around the island was only supposed to take a day but my uncle was too tired to continue driving. We decided to spend a night at a rest stop. As night fell, I checked out the light displays that were set up in the rest area. People were sitting in large rhombus shelters which had a pane of orange glass on one side.
