I had already finished my lunch and did not feel like meeting any more people so I walked up to the second floor of the restaurant. There was a showcase of new inventions being held - although most of the creations were rather mundane. I was just about to talk away from someone showing how to find the center of gravity of a fork when he selected me for a demonstration. He held out my right wrist and tried various ways of balancing the fork on my arm. He said that I had a very feminine upper arm, which got a chuckle out of my dad.

We walked back to the stairs and my cousin was in a wheelchair. “Need help standing?” I asked. She said she was fine and stood up on her own. I told her to be careful, as she was standing on the footrest instead of the ground and she took a few steps forward before landing in another chair. Another child quickly took the opportunity to sit in my cousins wheelchair. My aunt made a joke about someone new taking the wheel[chair].

One of the other innovations being shown was an inflatable pool toy that had magnets on the end so that it could close into a ring. Another patent that was not on the floor, but depicted in the catalog, was a device for holding people up for constructing and removing casts on their body.
