I walked through the doors of the chapel with a bug zapper racket in hand while a bee was pestering me. Mass was being held but the bee wouldn’t go away no matter how much I swung the racket. It wasn’t long before someone called me out for being a disturbance to others and asked me to leave. I stood still for a moment before quickly apologizing and saying that it will never happen again.

The people sitting at the pews started to stand up and sing. The choir at the front walked down the aisles to clasp the hands of the people along the rows. “Hey, this is just like how we would greet someone [in the office] in Taiwan!” a family friend shouted towards my mom. A loud tsk came from our left. “That’s not what what it means at all” they said without even looking at us.
