Art projects were displayed along the red walls of the room. The theme was an abstract representation of warfare, as guided by elements from Europa Universalis IV.

For phonetics class we were reciting short stories that we had previously transcribed into IPA. The current one was a story about Obama. However, last class I had thought the transcription was just going to be a one-time in-class exercise so I had not written as neatly as I usually would. Right around when our teacher walked out the door, I got lost in the page. I panicked and froze, staring at my scribbles, trying to find my spot. I was still silent by the time he walked back into the room. I stayed silent - shamefully hoping that maybe somehow I could just pretend I finished reading.

He introduced the class to a few people that came in to audit. “Your Moodle accounts have been set up for you”, he told them. And they thanked him for taking the time to do so.

The class went on to the topic of plagiarization and the importance of citing. He looked at the two of us sitting by the window.
