It was the second to last week that our painting class was going to meet. I was gathering shades of blue from a painting of a moonrise with an eyedropper. I commented on how I was having a hard time trying to extract skin tones from the image.
Our goal for this week was to draw the building in front of us. It looked like a large apartment complex with a marketplace on the first two levels. Thirty minutes had passed by the time I was done selecting my colors. I apologized for taking so long while returning another student’s clipboard.
As I sketched out the building, I didn’t feel confident about getting the perspective right. However, whatever I drew seemed to work out. I didn’t like drawing without a plan yet it felt like I was straight up sculpting objects onto my canvas.

The time had come once again for the annual announcement for the beginning of our traditional hunting season. Every year a new announcer had to be chosen, as no one wanted to do it. The banquet hall replied with a series of sighs and groans. Not even the announcer himself was enthusiastic about the event. Someone suggested that we vote democratically whether or not we wanted to continue on with the event by either making a rock or scissors gesture with their hands in the air.
A few hands went up. However, no one had ever said which corresponded to which response. Nevertheless, our new event was going to be karaoke. Someone stopped by each table to ask what they were going to perform as a group. When it came by to our table, we said that we really had no idea. Someone suggested a Beatles song.

I woke up and saw snacks on the blanket by my foot. I carefully sat up so as to not spill the noodles all over the floor. I figured I must have fallen asleep while eating.
