The protagonist of the movie was a high school student who had been called in by the teacher to talk about her latest paper. The assignment was to compare the novel they were reading to other pieces of literature but the student had not made a single reference to another work. When asked, the student said something to the effect of books not being a worthwhile medium in comparison to movies or television.
“I really relate to the protagonist though”, she added. “If I were her, I would be a beetle.”
She asked the teacher to elope with her to Montana while offering a small bag of rice noodle rolls she called “cookie skins”.
The teacher asked her to get out.
