I saw a group of acquaintances from high school gathering by the street so I walked out of the mall to ask where they were going. They said they were going to the US-Canadian border. “East or west?” I asked, only to answer my own question, “West probably”, as we were already on the west coast. I walked back inside as I didn’t expect an invite.

We were simultaneously playing two games on the Switch on two different screens. The only problem was that the controllers would keep disconnecting and reconnect to the wrong game. I was playing as Bowser in a four-player co-op Mario platformer.

We were looking around for the password for a private YouTube video under the notice that a user called ブブ had dropped hints in the comment section. We found their comment on a blue plastic bottle in the TV shelf. The comment said that the password was a noisy bug commonly associated with Japanese summers. We quickly guessed that it was some variation of “cicada”.
