It was right about exam week and we were talking about what classes we had signed up to take next semester. Even though we should be studying, there were events on campus packed throughout the week, including an all-day breakfast. People were looking through the hallway window into my room when I went in to glance at my to-do list on my desk.
I heard a low growl come from the outside before a crocodile managed to squeeze its way through below the crack of my door. It wasn’t the first time it had entered my room. I pressed down on its mouth and said “come back uninvited again and you’re getting reported.” I let its jaws open a little bit before popping a battery into its mouth.
It seemed to have swallowed it, which was not my intention. “I hope it goes through safely,” I said. “After all, it’s just a magnet.”
