I had accidentally deleted all of the notes I had taken on my phone in my half-conscious state after waking up in bed. I frantically searched up how to undo such deletions online to no avail. I was frustrated at myself for never backing up my phone.

The class was silent. I had done all of the reading but I didn’t know what to say. As if to break the ice, someone turned to me and asked how my day was. I froze, unable to answer, partly because it would demonstrate that I had the ability to talk yet still not have anything to say about the class materials.

An hour passed before one of the other students suggested that perhaps we should have class again tomorrow. No one else seemed to give any input on this decision.

When class was finally over, I told a friend that I was thinking about not going to the dinner at 6 tonight.
