I walked through the rain to get to math class and saw that everyone was already seated through the glass walls. Even people who usually did not come to class were inside and I had a moment of panic as I thought that I might have been late.
I walked in the room to more clearly see that people were talking and eating pizza. We must have been celebrating the end of the semester. I found myself a place to sit before helping myself to a bowl of soup and a square slice of pizza. I brought my plate back to the table before deciding that I get a drink as well. I managed to find a liter bottle of Crystal Coke before sitting down.
I realized that I had put my chowder down when I got myself pizza so I went back to retrieve it. At this point, the soup had gone cold and I put it in the microwave to heat it back up. I set the timer for 30 seconds.
Fifteen seconds had passed.
“Is that microwave safe?” someone asked, pointing to the plastic bowl. I froze.
“Oh shit” I exclaimed as I opened the microwave door.
“I did something not allowed”, I faltered. Most of it had melted into a goopy mess into the bottom ridges of the (now) freezer.
“You’re one of us now”, someone said.
“Should I leave it in longer for everything to melt?” I asked, thinking that it might make it easier to clean.
“No, just get back in here and help clean up” they said.
