I opened my eyes right after envisioning that a group of people had set off a bomb in the building that we were standing in. I was running low so low on sleep that I would dream whenever I closed my eyes. “Woah, everything looks different”, I said out loud as I tried to regain my balance.
The skyscraper shook from the shock waves below. I looked outside to see the windows on the lower floors had shattered. All of a sudden, we fell as the floor disappeared under us.
I opened my eyes again, standing in front the same chair. Outside I could see the city bustling with life under the night sky. Was I supposed to give law enforcement a tip about the impending disaster? My father grew impatient as he saw me rummaging through files, looking for a way to file a proper report. “Why don’t you do anything?” he asked. I thought I knew what I needed to do, but couldn’t bring myself to do it without following a proper protocol that I wasn’t even sure existed. “How naive”, he commented as I heard the explosion go off below again.
The room rumbled.
