I was sitting on the patio of the cafeteria late at night. My mouth was wide open but I could feel that my molars were cracking as if they were grinding on each other again. “How much longer is this place open?” I wondered. Three people were sitting at a round table a couple of meters away. They were talking about someone’s appearance who was apparently standing behind me. I resisted the urge to turn around to see who they were talking about.

“We need to talk about Alzheimer’s” someone said. We were playing one of those virtual reality doctor simulation games where there was simply too much micromanaging to do that it stopped being fun. My left sandal in the game snapped in half. It was black and had a green stripe through the footbed.
