My mother asked me if I had taken any tests. I wasn’t quite sure what she meant as I had taken many tests over the years so I asked her when and what kind she was talking about. “Other than the DEMO, you don’t have any other tests coming up, right?” my aunt asked. I nodded without knowing what the DEMO test was which backfired when it was my mother’s turn to ask what it was.

“What app do you use for translating the newspaper?” my aunt asked. I told her I settled with just understanding a little bit of everything. The English section of the newspaper was always filled with obvious travel advice. There was also an article in the paper today about the horrible conditions of a Chinese airline flight where passengers were seated in the cargo hold.

I walked into my brothers room and fell asleep on his bed that was by the window. As I drifted into sleep, I could feel that his bed was much higher than my usual bed. I woke up and in front of me was a chart for filling out “smol” variations of animal names. There was a “democratic crossword” given to voters, and a video listing multiple uses of the word “hagage” (/həˈgeɪʒ/) without explanations.

There was a knock on the door before a police officer came barging in. Apparently it was illegal to have a laptop on the bed and as a result he had to inspect the documents within. He somehow had admin credentials and was able to access everything. Even though it didn’t seem like he did much, after he left I had a feeling that he had installed a keylogger.
