It was noon when I got off of the boat and walked onto the empty beach. As the rest of the group started to wade into the water, I quickly went back in to change into more appropriate clothing. I saw the tide start to rise as the water was beginning to wash over the shoes that had been laying by the door. Inside of the restrooms were televisions with preset programs playing as they were not connected to anything. I recognized a few from my way over when we were sitting in the diner. Someone came in to inform me that we were out of food. we found some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as well as some strawberry jam crackers in one of the baskets.
When I walked out, it was already 4 in the afternoon. The beach was packed and overflowing with people enjoying the summer weather. “When did we get here?” I asked my friend. Apparently he was here even earlier than me at 10 in the morning. The boat started to sail away from us so in turn we started to chase it. The beach quickly turned into paved streets but the people remained seated. We were now following the boat down a river through the middle of London. We passed various plaques thanking the “1208 volunteers” that helped contribute to the summer festival as well as the 300 or so others for their “arms distribution”.
When we finally caught up to the boat, we were informed that they gave special priority to children and their parents as they were evacuating the city. The boat continued to sail away with our belongings.
