March 5, 2016

We were walking down the street of an empty city in the middle of the night. The incandescent streetlamps were our only source of light. There were two mice that were constantly chasing each other through the storm drains on the sidewalk. The two of us watched this game of tag unfold until one of the mice caught the other and unexpectedly snapped the head of the other with its jaw. They were each abstractly represented with filled in problems from a workbook and we wanted to see who “won”. I heard a congratulations.

I was walking down the street with my dad and I was holding in my hands a laptop that was in the middle of shutting down. The mouse was still plugged in and I couldn’t put it back in the case which made everything rather unwieldy to carry. We finally enter the lobby of an apartment(?) building and a friend comes down to greet me. She talked about how kissing “induce[d] free will” and was an act of regaining control of one’s thoughts and behaviors. There was a strange tension that made me feel rather uncomfortable because my father was still sitting next to us.

We went back to her place upstairs and the front door was actually a square “window” that one had to crawl through to get inside.* The room was rather empty and had a tatami floor. There was a television to the right and in the center was a pair of futons that had a small counter for snacks between them. There was some sort of dialogue happening on the screen and my friend asked me why I didn’t turn off the television(/game) before I left the place.

I took the futon furthest from the entrance and started to doze off immediately. I was immensely exhausted and couldn’t stay awake even if I tried. There was now some kind of talk/game show on the TV. I asked if someone was there in a half-awake state twice before finally falling asleep.
