We were flipping through my brother’s old yearbook and the first few pages of the book detailed all of the various clans and daimyos of Japan’s warring period. They each had an illustrated portrait and a photo of someone dressed in their clothing accompanying their short blurbs about their life history. The following few pages were dedicated to the school’s basketball team.

When we got to the page for my brother’s profile, we saw an animated image printed under his picture. It was a sprite of an Ultralisk from Starcraft hitting another unit. We seemed to take for granted that this was a moving printed image that we were looking at. My brother explained that what came out wasn’t exactly what he requested from the people who made the yearbook.
