I was either in a classroom or in someone’s residence. I couldn’t tell. But what I knew for sure was that you couldn’t hear the music anymore if you walked too far down the hallway. It was probably coming from the second floor.

I was running up to my room on the third floor when I ran past a childhood friend who was going in the opposite direction. I nodded and moved on. It had been years since we had last met.

I couldn’t tell if I was dreaming so I tried to stick my hand through the headrest of the front car seat. I wasn’t able to determine if i was the kind that had a hollow rectangle in the middle. It kind of phased in and out of my vision but I attributed it mostly to my exhaustion and the fact that the car was going through a series of tunnels which constantly altered the interior shadows. It remained solid to the touch though. We had finally stopped under a fluorescent streetlamp in a parking lot and when I opened my door, I saw a spilled over gas can on the concrete. I asked my dad if I should be concerned.
