I expected to be stuck on the island forever, accompanied by a man in a spacesuit and a herd of overeager dogs.

There were cracks in the concrete sky that led to a light drizzle on the street being lit by incandescent bulbs. I was waiting for a party of people that didn’t seem to be coming so I laid down to rest my head under the niche in the brick wall. I was just about to get up and leave when I head a group approaching from around the corner. I stood up to greet them and told them about their good timing and my previous intention to depart as we walked into house which was actually a convenience store.

In order to get to the “second” floor, one had to crawl through a square frame that was halfway up from the ground which usually resulted in kicking over some plastic bottles of shampoo. I was just in the middle of getting through the wooden frame when everyone else was already leaving the premises. At least I managed to find an ASUS charger. My laptop was still sitting open on a table on the first floor and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to catch up to the rest of the group after packing up. Did they even know that I wanted to tag along?
