My family and I sat within a white tower that overlooked the road that went through the residential area by the mountain. We were having a picnic and I was thinking about what it would be like to bring my lunch to the top of the Taipei 101. Some person in business attire and a boxed lunch in his hands walked through the glass door only to turn around after finding out that the spot had been occupied and apologizing.

When we got back down to the surface, I looked at my map and noticed that I had already marked this place as somewhere that I’ve been with my dad before. We got into the car and our driver just took us onto the highway. His driving was rather fast and reckless but there weren’t any casualties - so far so good. After all, he was “new to America”.

However it didn’t take long before we started driving on an unpaved road that eventually led right into a trodden path in the trees and vines. My father complained that our driver was too fixed on accelerating and missed a turn because of it. I took out my phone and noticed that our path was indeed depicted as I proper road. “Well to be fair google maps does say-… " I didn’t quite finish before we turned back onto the road and into a residential area. We had however come out of a forbidden area and was greeted by around 30 or so guards that were patrolling the intersections.

“We’ll just be upfront about it” I suggested.
