I was walking behind everyone else when someone attempted to shoot at me from behind. “I thought I was supposed to be invisible!” I exclaimed as I jumped to the side. I stopped by the side of the dirt road in the garden under the moonlight. I tried to listen for footsteps of anyone following but failed to do so.
I walked into the souvenir store and I asked about what happened previously that night. I stared at my hands, unable to tell if I was invisible or not. Someone commented on how my red shirt was rather noticeable. My mother told me that the cloaking device no longer worked because the vaccine that I had gotten as a baby was no longer effective. I would have to re-authenticate my documents with the government if I wanted to get another vaccine injection.
Our mission in its current state wasn’t going to succeed if we were unable to intercept the attack on a woman who was being set up for hundreds of years. We had all of the time in the world, but our opponents had a better control of it. Trying to jump back to 400 years ago to somehow get into contact with her ancestors was a fruitless endeavor.

I was following a party of small carts that were driving through abandoned alleyways, shooting at doors and windows as they passed by. After a while, we saw an old lady at her window sweeping dust out of her home. “I heard that she’s flying to Europe soon”, said one of the members. I was surprised how easily we were let in until it was revealed that we were working for this old lady. The shooting of the windows was just an attempt to gather some more supplies from the area.
