I was writing a report on and making an exhibit for a once fabled “New Open Art Museum” that was situated in a three story house in the middle of the city. The house it was reportedly in was now empty and all that I could find out about it was based on secondhand information that wasn’t any much more credible than mere rumors.

As I was sitting on the rooftop of a neighboring building in the middle of the night, typing a rough draft of my piece while looking at it from afar, someone sat next to me with inquisitive eyes. “What is it out of 10?” he asked. I looked over to my right for a piece of paper that had the number 84 circled in pen on the top and I replied so, “84″. It meant that I was the 84th person in line to give their presentation.

“I meant out of 10″ he said. “10 being it makes you a little happy and 8 meaning it makes you a little sad.”

“Well that’s a little unfair isn’t it?” I asked in return. “Shouldn’t 5 be neutral?”

I never answered his question.
