It was 3 AM and I was heading to bed. The sun had already risen and light came in through the window like it was noon.

Earlier a teacher had told me that the two constants of the universe that lead to unlikely events were x* and change.

Someone was talking about the phrase “(got a) goat for it?” and apparently it was used whenever someone identified that the words of the other person could have been taken ironically. Or rather in some contexts, it signaled that one recognized the sarcasm in the other person’s speech. This was derived from the word “scapegoat” which in this world had already been driven to something that more closely resembled “skateboard”. The girl then phoned her mom to report that they had been mistaken since childhood to think that the word “skateboard” actually meant “scapegoat”.
