I woke up in my room with the window on the left of the bed. The curtains were only slightly open so I sat up to look outside. A classmate was in his own bedroom in another building studying vocabulary from a textbook.
A small child and her mother were playing on the roof of the building. The girl looked down and lost her footing, plummeting 14 stories below. I tracked her descent and watched her make impact with the cement. I ran out of my room and shouted as loud as I possibly could that someone had fallen off the roof. My parents asked who and I replied that it was the neighbor’s child across from us. They asked why I had to yell.
