It was the last day of school and rather uneventful. We were sitting in the classroom and I was reading a book. I wasn’t very interested in what was going on around me but I had the feeling that I would once again feel very unsatisfied when I left at the end of the day.

I looked once again in my daily planner and the first item was “emotion thoughts”. I drew an arrow next to it meaning “to do later” but then crossed it out for “completed”. I think I was meaning to talk to someone but then decided against it. I looked at my grades for the class I was sitting in online and I got an H, whatever that meant.

Two former classmates walked in so I took my bag from the table and set it on the floor in case one of them wanted to sit in front of me. “You guys aren’t doing anything?” Silence. “Are you just reading your book?” I looked up and apparently he was talking to me. “Yes…” I replied.

The teacher then got up from his chair and walked to the window. “Now a few of you have come up to talk to me privately and I just want to make something clear to the whole class. When the school earlier announced that there may be an error with the grades displayed, it doesn’t mean that you should be coming up and asking about the B you got for the class. What was happening was that it sometimes said that you got an H, your parents got an M, or teachers got an AAA+. Also, I would like to mention to those that gave me their resumes to review that drafting is a very important part of the process.”

At this point, I slightly tilted my head in confusion when he looked back at me. “This is something that should already be completed if you wanted me to look at it. That is all. Goodnight, and take a walk through the new building on your way out.”

I looked out of the window and across the street was the new building. It was completed just as we were finishing our last year and really had no meaning to me but I felt like I had to look through it at least once before I left.

The day was over and people were streaming out of the room.

There was a familiar feeling of dissatisfaction.
