There she was. There was just the three of us on the beach. The sun was blindingly bright as it reflected off of the white sand. I shouted a warning to not go too far into the water but the two of them went anyways. I didn’t have much interest in getting wet so I walked around in the shade to avoid scorching my feet.

There were reports about how the high tide rises especially fast during this time of the year. My back was faced to the ocean when the first wave hit me and before I knew it, I was being dragged down into the water. I tried to regain my footing before another one crashed right over me. Grasping for air, I turned my head back to find that the two figures had disappeared.

I was now alone

and drowning.
