I had pulled another all-nighter and was now writing a letter to an old friend. “Hopefully you don’t have to resort to straight-gay” my father said rather cryptically. My mother asked me to watch over the stove even though I told her it would be a bad idea due to my current levels of sleep deprivation. I had written down a few jokes in my notebook. Pepeles.

I walked into the tatami changing room and picked up the pink telephone. I turned on the shower and water got all over the floor. I wouldn’t turn it off because no matter how much water there was, the water didn’t feel wet. I heard voices about how the tatami mats were going to get moldy in a few weeks because of me.

I had to retrieve my laptop from the other room and when I opened it up, my Discord client was on display on the projector. It was a laptop that I had used for school in the past and I carried it back to my own bedroom. I set the laptop onto the desk, not sure where my charger was. As I sat on my bed, I started to eat freshly baked from from a stove right next to me. Hot coals were dropping down into the stove from a rectangular hole in the ceiling.

For our in-class assignment, each group of students received a small deck of cards. On the cards were drawings of various objects and subject matters and our task was to come up with a story that tied all of the elements together. When it came our turn to present, one of our members told a story about a pile of body parts that roamed around the land consuming other bodies. “Anatomy” is what he titled it. I personally thought it was a little unimaginative, after all most of our cards were simply that: body parts.

It was my first time streaming on Twitch and I was playing Path of Exile. Except I wasn’t. On my screen I was playing Diablo 2 as an Assassin on the lowest resolution. I could barely tell what was on my screen as I walked through the Rogue Encampment except for my potions. I had no viewers and a concert was going on out in the courtyard.

It was move-in day and I had gotten back on campus early. The snow was still fresh when I walked up the stairs outside of the lecture hall. I sat down on a bench when I saw a car pull up, out of which came other students and their parents. They seemed lost, wandering aimlessly while giving me weird looks.

I walked into a dark corner of a McDonalds in order to sign in on a Mac that was sitting on top of one of the recycling areas. I just wanted to log on real quick to check something using someone else’s account. When I logged out, I looked around to find that there were quite a few people sleeping here with their heads down on the table.

The sun was just coming over the horizon when we got the order to evacuate. A big storm was coming and our house was on the beach. “They water is so green today” my father commented while laying on the beach lounger. I thought that it looked abnormally blue but I didn’t say anything.

People in the hotel room were talking about a juvenile detention center in Crimea when I went to go take a shower. I carried a large compilation of theses with me into the bathroom while thinking about the semester ahead. I realized that winter break was quickly ending and that I had forgotten to hand in an assignment that I had promised to make up for.

It was going to be Renn Fayre soon. I was pushing my shopping cart full of groceries through the subway when I walked past her. She didn’t seem to notice.
