It was getting late at a friend’s place and I overheard a conversation about how I was the only person who lived far away. I checked the map on my phone to see that I had missed the last train of the night. Someone commented that “[I] was bad with asking for a ride home”.

I was back in Taiwan for the winter and my mom kept asking me how I got my bike. I told her that it was just in the garage the whole time and seemed to be in usable shape. Apparently my dad had just recently bought a new bike but had to install the separately sold wheels by himself. I got onto the bike for a test ride although the seat was a little low.

I was cooking a big bowl of noodle soup for the kids when I scooped plastic seasoning packets out of the broth. My cousin said that she’d be able to get me back to my old job on a normal contract if I wanted. I told her that I’d have to think about it.

We were sitting outside of a clinic and someone asked what we thought it was for. Based on the amount of pregnant women in the waiting area I guessed that it was an OB/GYN or some related department.

It was the beginning of the fall semester and I wanted to get ahead on my senior thesis. I asked a professor if I could borrow some microphones to record conversations. She asked if I had an actual experimental design. I suggested that maybe I could track word frequencies but admitted that I didn’t know what I was looking for. I just wanted a head start. The first classes of the semester hadn’t even begun yet.

We had arrived at our home in Taitung but the other car that was with us wasn’t following and went sightseeing. It was raining heavily but we decided to head back out again anyways. I walked around the house to make sure all of the lights were turned off before walking back to the car.

The toilet seemed to always fill back to the brim after every flush. I walked to the kitchen to ask my mom how anyone was supposed to use the bathroom like this. She said that there was a setting somewhere to change the water level. I was confused why anyone would want the water to be so high.

I was watching a talent show and one of the acts was a puppet show performing a Hatsune Miku concert. I was impressed by how smoothly the puppeteer was able to change costumes in between songs. World is Mine was on while I tried to focus on the chord progressions. My mom asked if I was ever going to get a girlfriend.

I was looking for something to buy as a present in the bookstore. Among the items I was considering was a handbook on mosses and some wired earphones.

My brother had brought home a few tubs of ice cream and asked us which flavours we’d like to try. My niece said she wanted “Rocky” and “Road” which were separated into two distinct flavors somehow. Apparently the ice cream came out to only be around 70 cents a tub.
