I was still in bed but I already knew that I was late for the bus. My parents stopped trying to get me out of bed and handed the responsibility to my brother. I didn’t see the point but rushed to the bus stop anyways - under the presumption that I must’ve already been late by at least half an hour. When I got there, there were still familiar faces waiting. Some of the people were standing in the middle of the road. A number 2 bus stopped in front of us and as someone got on they said how most people don’t pay attention and get on the wrong bus right before complaining about the public transportation in the city.

It was 23:00 as I walked into the crowded cafeteria. I sat down at a table absolutely exhausted, knowing that I had to wake up at about 3:20 in the morning later. Someone next to me was playing Banished and was using a bunch of keyboard shortcuts to get look around the map the way people do with Starcraft. He said it was “how veterans play”. I replied that it only mattered if you wanted to look “pro” for it wasn’t the right game for that. I passed out over the table.

I was at the new student orientation and one of the activities was to bake a cake together with other students. The kitchen was heavily windowed and dominated by a white color scheme. We had math classes in the afternoon.

I was back at my elementary school campus and the bus heading home was arriving soon. I saw that they had put a new swimming pool next to the main entrance and some people were ready to get in. I suddenly realized that my pockets were empty, meaning that I must have left my phone, wallet, and keys somewhere upstairs. However after taking a few steps up the stairs, my belongings materialized in my pockets again. “Why do you lie to me?” I asked.

It was the second time in the first week that I was an hour late for class. I hadn’t memorized my schedule yet so I didn’t know what classes I was missing. Apparently this made my parents extremely concerned and they wanted to take the responsibility for my tardiness. When I looked at my schedule I noticed the only classes I registered for in the morning were art and music classes.

There was a movie about a “Herbalist” in the DVD player. What surprised me more however was the fact that we even had a DVD player in the house. The menu with a scene of the interior of a reddish tea place kept replaying on the TV screen.

We were playing a capture the flag game in a trainyard. I equipped myself with a few Molotov cocktails to close off a few paths. When I ran into the opponents territory, someone handed me a teal banana which was the objective. “Why me?” I asked as it was set into my hands. I was running across the field as I heard someone screaming at me to give it back.

It was still dark out when we ran towards the bus station. “Which bus should we take?” I asked as we looked around for one that headed to the airport. After frantically hopping from post to post, I noticed that the bus closest to the docks not only went to the airport but also accepted Metro cards. However as we approached, we ended up just missing the one the departs at 7:00.

I sending off a friend at an airport in Korea and for some reason I was frustrated by the cheeriness of the staff servicing there. When I later returned to the hotel we were staying at, I was confused by the elevator situation. Instead of rising through the floors via a stall, the entire floor around the staircase went upwards. I was only able to know that I had arrived at the ninth floor by the Christmas decorations by the doors.

It was a little past 2AM but I couldn’t sleep yet so I decided to take a walk outside. I passed the fallen trees of the storm-ravaged streets when a teacher saw me and asked what I was doing here. I told him that I was taking a walk before going to to bed. He replied that he “sometimes wake[s] up in the middle of the night too”. I assumed that he misunderstood what I meant. I said goodbye as I turned the corner until he said he was going the same direction. He had a teacher meeting to attend. “We don’t have it that easy, you know” he said.
