My mom asked me if I was going to eat at [some mall] anytime soon. “If you do, you can go early and buy an old computer while you’re there!” she added while holding up an advertisement/coupon that was pasted on the inside of an old desktop tower. “That’s a bad idea” my father countered. I told them that I wasn’t so easily swayed by advertising anyways.

Someone showed me a screenshot from EU4 where Castile had colonized all of the Americas. I wanted to in return show one where Germany had conquered the two continents but was unable to find it through my browsing history.

We looked outside of the window as the typhoon raged on. The beat got successively louder as the wind started to pick up the pots and cages on the rooftop gardens. Several sheds made out of metal sheets had their doors blown open. I was especially fixated on one that was painted light green.

I was either in a classroom or in someone’s residence. I couldn’t tell. But what I knew for sure was that you couldn’t hear the music anymore if you walked too far down the hallway. It was probably coming from the second floor.

The second sink in the bathroom was overflowing. A red and yellow liquid continuously flowed out of the drain in spurts, making a splash whenever the water hit the ground. There was an empty glass jar next to the sink, with a label indicating that it had once contained tomatoes.

I expected to be stuck on the island forever, accompanied by a man in a spacesuit and a herd of overeager dogs.

It was an orientation event and our group of four was supposed to meet on the grass. Only one other person had come early and she had a plastic bag full of tomatoes with her. I was rather embarrassed when she knew my name but I wasn’t able to recall who she was at all. What then followed was a series of history and geography questions that I tried to answer without really questioning why. At one point she asked if I liked “Canadian Finland” as opposed to the one in Europe. Afterwards she commented, “I though you needed to know a lot to be a history major”. I told her that she got it wrong and that I wasn’t studying history at all.

On the front cover of the magazine was a photo of a friend sitting on the window from the interior of a half-submerged house on the coast. The photo shoot took place at a place called “Land’s Lorry”. “When did she get her teeth fixed?” my mother asked me while peering at the cover. I told her it must have been a little over a month ago but she insisted that the teeth in the photo must have been fake.

When I opened up my Battle.net client, there was an announcement that Overwatch had been released early. Before checking anything else, I messaged a friend about the news. I quickly found out however that it was a prank and that the link led to an irrelevant YouTube video.

I opened the door to my room and found my brother with his wife at the foot of my bed. “What the hell happened here?” I asked. My brother got up and said that he could clean up the place but I was more concerned about how they got in as I was pretty sure I had locked up the room before I left. He told me that the door was already unlocked when he came in.
