I was sitting in the back of a taxi and there was a screen on the seat next to me. A video lecture titled “Love is Strange” was playing on the screen. It was about the creation of the modern conception of love and was presented through an interspersing of narration and interviews. My brother was sitting in the front passenger seat and turned back to watch the screen as well. When we finally got off at our destination, the sun seemed to be setting on the city high-rises.The city itself seemed to simply be a string of buildings surrounding a highway as there were no intersections that ran perpendicular to the road we were on.

We were split into two teams in some kind of a trivia game before being dismissed from class. When I exited the classroom, the hallway greatly resembled the one from the elementary years that had an open central courtyard. I passed by a classmate and asked what she thought about the class. She had complaints about how the game simply “made everyone look good” and that there wasn’t actually any competition.

We were walking down the street of an empty city in the middle of the night. The incandescent streetlamps were our only source of light. There were two mice that were constantly chasing each other through the storm drains on the sidewalk. The two of us watched this game of tag unfold until one of the mice caught the other and unexpectedly snapped the head of the other with its jaw. They were each abstractly represented with filled in problems from a workbook and we wanted to see who “won”. I heard a congratulations.

I asked someone if they were living on campus next year and they said that they were unsure. They liked the idea of living off campus but at the same time didn’t want to bother with the responsibility of maintaining a house.

we were sitting in front of the television and my father was registering me for Taiwan’s military draft. My mother was surprised and thought it was really clever of him to register online instead of by mail. For some reason my dad filled in my sex as Female on the form so I asked him why. “Why not?” he responded and said that it didn’t really matter. I was really confused as I was sure that this would have consequences during my time in service. Furthermore, our information was going to be displayed on large “flags” before our training.

I followed closely behind their steps and we were heading towards the balcony on the top floor when she vanished. I immediately turned back and into the bathroom of another bedroom on the same floor. I was able to communicate in morse code by flickering the lights in the bathroom. When I came out, my sister-in-law informed me that our family was going to watch a movie together downstairs.

We were in an apartment that had a personal aquarium installed on one side. There was one tank with a curved panel on the outer edge as well oval tank you could walk around that went from the floor to the ceiling. A metal railing traced across the outer panel. The smaller tank had a few subdivisions that housed a variety of turtles.

We were sitting around a table in a room with a black board. There were a sequence of 1s and 0s written on the board in chalk. These were supposedly the results of an unnumbered amount of dice rolls. We had to guess what the average roll was.

We were meeting up with a family friend after our flight had landed. I was able to see a map of the area and we were to meet at “The Ronnie House” which was by the shore. There was also a fairly large library near by. I hailed a taxi and told the driver that I wanted to go to the library, thinking that it wouldn’t be too bad to walk the rest of the way. The driver complained that the library was too far away but agreed to take me there anyways.

… We walked up to one of the stalls by the road that was selling an assortment of food. I had 200 NT on me and I asked how much the sugar apples cost. They seemed to be coated with some kind of orange powder. The lady told me to not bother as it was way too expensive. I instead opted for a bag of cuttlefish strips which cost 125. I got my change back in the form of a handful of coins which I then promptly dropped and had to pick up off of the sidewalk.
