It was morning and I set up my work station in one of the spare rooms in the house. I knew the workday was about to start but I wasn’t exactly sure what time it was. A friend walked in and wanted to sleep in the room. I thought to myself how I could no longer slack off now.

I crushed a handful of empty eggshells and brought them upstairs to throw away. A friend asked me if I had seen my mother’s latest work yet. I looked around and saw a large painting of a mediterranean patio under the midday sun. “Oh, not that one” I said as I stared at it in awe.

I was at a banquet and I saw some friends from childhood. I didn’t know what to say to them other than how long it’s been since we’d met. For some reason I wasn’t wearing any clothes. I dived under a table.

We still needed a cover illustration for our zine which was due to print the next day. We know we wanted it to feature Deadlock so I presented some reference materials to the meeting. Apparently this meant that I was now in charge of getting it done. There was no avoiding an all nighter. I started by sketching out a mecha Wraith and heavily armed Yamato.

We were watching a movie about the proposed redevelopment of our metro and underground pedestrian zone. The film included a virtual walking tour through the stations, full of both new and familiar storefronts. I got a little emotional when we walked through the re-imagined path of my old commute.

I was at a friend’s house party and they wanted me to play Jackbox with them. I told them I’d pass while I struggled to fit on a blue pair of disposable gloves. “Oh come on”, they begged. “Alright, fine”, I conceded as the gloves weren’t fitting anyways. A friend offered his phone, asking if I still had a “wood phone”, a reference to the fact that my phone was falling apart around this time last year. I looked at the TV and noticed I wasn’t able to focus and read anything on the screen.

I was going to be late so my friend offered me a ride to a bus stop to cut down on my transit time. When I got out of the car, I tried to check my phone for which lines go to campus but for some reason all of the time estimates were on the magnitude of days. The buses were starting to leave so I just hopped onto the one that looked right and hoped for the best.

I was late to class not did I know which room I was supposed to be in. I paced up and down the hallway, peeking through the doors under the assumption that I would see a teacher’s face who I’d recognized. I didn’t see a teacher but I did see a room of familiar faces in one of the rooms.

There was an hour left for my shift but I’d already completed all of my tasks for the day. Someone said to not ask for extra work to do, as we were “too high level” for that. So we sat around and chatted instead. They asked me what I thought about my job. I said it was chill and that I got to make things. They started talking about an old coworker who’d apparently come back to the company. I recalled how I’d only sometimes see them online and figured that they must be on some kind of part-time position.

I was in a cafeteria with my dad and held up the line we were in when I hesitated to grab a tray and cup from the rack by the turnstiles. We walked to the fridge section and inside were boxes of Oreo ice cream sandwiches. My dad warned me to not get them as they were all opened and half eaten. Some of the 12-pack boxes had as few as four sandwiches left in them.
