Someone was talking about Puerto Rico on the television. It was nighttime as I looked out the bedroom window on the second story of a suburban house. The house across the street was lit up from the bottom by a large floodlight. What seemed to be a Spanish flag was hanging from the side that faced the street. However instead of having a normal coat of arms, in its place was geometric yellow sea shell with orange borders.

I was in the middle of playing a rather successful EU4 campaign when Donald Trump congratulated me for conquering the western part of Russia in the game. He told me how Hilary was the richest person in the world at the moment. He knew because he was “poking around in her pocket”.

I was sitting in the back of a taxi and there was a screen on the seat next to me. A video lecture titled “Love is Strange” was playing on the screen. It was about the creation of the modern conception of love and was presented through an interspersing of narration and interviews. My brother was sitting in the front passenger seat and turned back to watch the screen as well. When we finally got off at our destination, the sun seemed to be setting on the city high-rises.The city itself seemed to simply be a string of buildings surrounding a highway as there were no intersections that ran perpendicular to the road we were on.

We were split into two teams in some kind of a trivia game before being dismissed from class. When I exited the classroom, the hallway greatly resembled the one from the elementary years that had an open central courtyard. I passed by a classmate and asked what she thought about the class. She had complaints about how the game simply “made everyone look good” and that there wasn’t actually any competition.

We were walking down the street of an empty city in the middle of the night. The incandescent streetlamps were our only source of light. There were two mice that were constantly chasing each other through the storm drains on the sidewalk. The two of us watched this game of tag unfold until one of the mice caught the other and unexpectedly snapped the head of the other with its jaw. They were each abstractly represented with filled in problems from a workbook and we wanted to see who “won”. I heard a congratulations.

I asked someone if they were living on campus next year and they said that they were unsure. They liked the idea of living off campus but at the same time didn’t want to bother with the responsibility of maintaining a house.
