There were about three or four drunk people in the living room while I was simultaneously massaging my clenched jaws and writing code. I was on a cushion with some kind of computer program that narrated my current surroundings a text-based adventure game. “What the fuck is this?” someone asked, pointing at my screen. “What’s what?” I replied. I wasn’t quite sure what the issue was, after all it wasn’t really any of their business. “‘What was once a drink?’ who talks like that?” was their attempt at clarification. I looked at the blank notepad behind my bed and realized that something was off.

My brother got a notification that his Taiwanese citizenship status had been revoked. They added a clause that as a result his wife was now also exempt from being a Taiwanese citizen. They noted the reason was that the international records for his location were inconsistent and they concluded that his identity must have been a fraud. He was supposedly supposed to be in Japan but they also had records that he was in Singapore. In actuality, we were in Taiwan.

I had opened Snapchat to see that someone had a snap in their story from “Dec 1, 1969″. When I opened it, it totaled about 60 seconds of someone dancing in front of a window in their living room.
