It was still dark out when we ran towards the bus station. “Which bus should we take?” I asked as we looked around for one that headed to the airport. After frantically hopping from post to post, I noticed that the bus closest to the docks not only went to the airport but also accepted Metro cards. However as we approached, we ended up just missing the one the departs at 7:00.

I sending off a friend at an airport in Korea and for some reason I was frustrated by the cheeriness of the staff servicing there. When I later returned to the hotel we were staying at, I was confused by the elevator situation. Instead of rising through the floors via a stall, the entire floor around the staircase went upwards. I was only able to know that I had arrived at the ninth floor by the Christmas decorations by the doors.

It was a little past 2AM but I couldn’t sleep yet so I decided to take a walk outside. I passed the fallen trees of the storm-ravaged streets when a teacher saw me and asked what I was doing here. I told him that I was taking a walk before going to to bed. He replied that he “sometimes wake[s] up in the middle of the night too”. I assumed that he misunderstood what I meant. I said goodbye as I turned the corner until he said he was going the same direction. He had a teacher meeting to attend. “We don’t have it that easy, you know” he said.

It was only until the second Tuesday of summer classes that I realized I had missed the first classes of the courses that I had wanted to take. Even though I had my entire schedule planned and written down, I had managed to forget about the classes I was most looking forward to. I thought about calling to notify that I would only be auditing this summer in an attempt to alleviate the problem and retake the course during the semester but I was told that it wouldn’t be possible as I had already paid for tuition.

I was sitting in a circle in a classroom with a group of classmates. When we got up to leave, I had the feeling that I wasn’t going to be seeing them again, even though it felt like I didn’t even get to know any of them. We watched a person run around a rooftop stairway through a window and wondered how they moved so fast. At one point their jacket changed into a light blue.

I was waiting outside of a storefront in a dimly lit alley. Someone came by and I told them that I didn’t live here when they asked. Dawn was just breaking when I saw my dad so I asked him if he was having a long night or simply woke up early. It turned out to be a long night as he had just gotten back from Stockholm. He commented on how “Americans don’t like to work”.

I was walking behind everyone else when someone attempted to shoot at me from behind. “I thought I was supposed to be invisible!” I exclaimed as I jumped to the side. I stopped by the side of the dirt road in the garden under the moonlight. I tried to listen for footsteps of anyone following but failed to do so.

I was setting my alarm to go off at 4:44 AM and every other minute afterwards while some friends were discussing which Olympic event they wanted to go to next. One person was talking about how South Africa had recently bought a bunch of land from its neighbors and now had the longest coastline in the entire world.

We were taking a break from constructing a robotic hand by going to the convenience store. I wandered along the aisles without much intention of buying anything. Someone asked me if the “Blue Burrito” was actually blue. I told him that it wasn’t and that it didn’t even have blue cheese in it. He looked disappointed. I lined up for the cashier behind him empty-handed while I saw that he grabbed some blue cheese for himself.

It was around 11PM and I was on a bus to the airport. I was going to a trip to Japan with some classmates and sat on a window seat on the left side. I took out my “travel folder” from my backpack to check my flight information once again and found that the flight departs at 2:30. I messaged this information to my mom and she replied minutes later simply with “The buck is being seen”. I also picked out an old train ticket and disposed of it in the seat pocket in front of me.
